We Liberal Democrats are excited to be fighting these elections. We are keen to take on the failing Tory Councillors, who have allowed such catastrophic housing developments for our Borough. By failing to set up an adequate development plan, the Tories have allowed developers to seize land for monster housing developments.

Philip lives locally, having worked as a Librarian and as an advisor for the Methodist Church. He is concerned about the construction of major housing developments in a village with inadequate transport links, air pollution levels in the village centre and wishes to support local businesses.

Campaigned against the old hospital site being turned into further tower blocks for students, for the retention and conversion of the old magistrates court, against uncontrolled suburban expansion without proper consideration of the needs for transport, schools, community facilities, campaigned for the pedestrianisation of the Market Place and against the suggestion that it should remain a bus route.

I was born in London, and moved to Loughborough 15 years ago to pursue a doctorate at Loughborough University. My wife and I decided it was THE place to raise a family. We now have three children and we all love living here. We have lived in the Shelthorpe area and have seen our children go to local schools and enjoy the various amenities this side of town has. I want to enhance the existing provisions so you and I can enjoy and be proud of Shelthorpe.

Alistair is a member of Mountsorrel Parish Council, Professor in Electromagnetics at De Montfort University and a Guest Professor at Harbin Institute of Technology in China. His work sees him as the President Elect of his professional society (the Electromagnetic Compatibility Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) as well as leading the development of a number of international standards.

He is active in working to make the new Mountsorrel Memorial Centre a hub for the community as well as making it self-sustaining. He is a Trustee of both the Sorrel Youth Café, a vital part of the village infrastructure, and the United Charities' Mountsorrel Education Fund, an important aspect of helping young people in the village achieve their potential. Alistair has been living in Mountsorrel for 20 years and sees the need for the Borough to support the village community in the widest sense as vital to the health and wellbeing of Mountsorrel, particularly given the growth in the population of Mountsorrel and its surroundings over recent years.

Marianne is the Chair of Loughborough and Charnwood Liberal Democrats; worked as academic at Loughborough University for 43 years; lived in Quorn for more than 40 years. Marianne is very active in local voluntary work.

She has written the reference book on Plastics and is an expert plastics recycling

She now works in a local secondary school and volunteers at Passion and is a member of Christchurch. She is interested in maintaining improving town/village centres, community amenities and services.

I find Sileby a fantastic place to live and would like to help ensure that it continues to be. If elected to Charnwood Borough Council I would like to help support the Sileby neighbourhood plan at the borough council level.

Originally from Lincolnshire my wife and I have lived in Burton on the Wolds for nearly 25 years. We have two adult sons and three grandchildren.

I am a Fellow of the Chartered Certified Accountants and have an MBA from Henley Management College.

I took early retirement after a career in the Aerospace and Renewable Energy industries.

I am very interested in developing young people's vocational skills, both as a governor of an FE college and as the Chair of an educational charity. I am also involved in fund raising for local charities.

I have been active in politics for many years, serving on Borough, Town and Parish councils. I am the Lib Dem Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Loughborough.
