Nearly 200 students at the Anglia Ruskin university Freshers' Fair on Tuesday signed the Lib Dem petition to scrap tuition fees and many backed the establishment of a Lib Dem Students Society at the university.

Climate Change will be the topic of discussion on Saturday, when Rochdale's first Climate Change Conference comes to Town. Taking place at Richmond Hall from 10am till 3pm, this will be a chance to discuss how Rochdale can do their bit to half Climate Change. There are still a few places left, and the organisers have drafted extra chairs in for anyone turning up on the day.

Car loses out in race into town centre

Driving a car is a slow form of transport if you are trying to get around Chelmsford, according to a transport race staged last Friday. It was 'In Town Without My Car' day and a bus, a car, cyclists and a pedestrian competed to see who would be first to get to the steps of county hall in Chelmsford's town centre from the Moulsham Lodge neighbourhood.

A lame duck Prime Minister says Ed Davey

Commenting on Tony Blair's speech to the Labour Party conference, Chairman of the Liberal Democrat Campaigns and Communication Committee, Ed Davey MP said: "This was a speech from a lame duck Prime Minister. In more than an hour of oratory, he failed to tackle the crucial question the country needs answered - exactly when is he going?"
