Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg has once again taken the issue of the unfair treatment of Gurkhas who retired before 1997 into the Parliament. At Prime Ministers Questions on Wednesday, Nick asked when the Government would finally grant citizenship rights to all Gurkhas, including those who retired before 1997, and tackle the injustice that sees a Gurkha's service years before 1997 given far less pension than equivalent British Army soldiers.

At the conference, Mr Farron will discuss the impact that skilled and motivated managers can have on the Cumbrian economy and the knock on effect that has on local people, as well as the importance of high quality social care services. Mr Farron has recently voiced his concern for the future of caring in Cumbria, noting the knock-on effect of an ageing population.
