Lib Dem local campaigner Cllr Parmjit Gill today visited Eyres Monsell Community Centre with Shadow Cabinet Minister for Work and Pensions Steve Webb MP and local councillor Mark Farmer. The Lib Dem team met with local pensioners at the community centre for lunch to discuss community matters. Top concerns for local residents are the closure of local Post Offices and the Labour candidate's record of closing homes for the elderly in Leicester.
Residents are outraged at the news that a further eighteen post offices in Leicestershire are set to close - with the axe hanging over a further six. The latest savage cuts under the Labour Government's closure programme will hit local communities hard.

Many students at Leicester's universities look set to miss out on voting against Labour's top up fees as a result of the timing of the Leicester South by-election.
