Unfortunately, despite his hard work in the Ward he did not get re-elected, but he has promised to continue fighting for the people of Congleton and hopes to seek re-election soon.

Liberal Democrat leader Sir Menzies Campbell has said the local elections represented "consolidation" as the Lib Dems won a greater share of the vote than Labour. Sir Menzies said the elections had not been a "test" of his leadership but of the party in general.
South West
Woking Liberal Democrats gained 3 seats from the Conservatives to become the largest party on Woking Borough Council. Gains included Horsell West, Mount Hermon East and Knaphill. Disappointingly, Lib Dems were short of one more gain in Byfleet by just 2 votes! The Conservatives gained Maybury and Sheerwater from Labour. The new composition of the council is as follows:
