Welcoming the news that the name of European Union will now be spread widely as a high level domain name for all of Europe's citizens, Graham Watson MEP, leader of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe said: "The .eu domain name is of huge symbolic value in the history of the integration of our continent. It will do for internet surfers what the Euro did for cross border shoppers and shows that Europe exists alongside Member States as a valid and useful level of governance and citizenship, bringing added value without detracting from national cultures."
Dundee Liberal Democrats have today (Sunday 7th May) backed the campaign led by Liberal Democrat Shadow Scottish Secretary Jo Swinson MP calling for action to stop the spread of fee-charging cash machines.
Liberal Democrat Leicester City Council is investing £10 thousand in the alarms for 15 communal areas in the city's sheltered housing schemes.
As a result of last Thursday's local elections on Woking, the Liberal Democrats have gained an additional 3 seats and taken over as the largest party on the Council, with 18 seats out of 36 total, ahead of the Conservatives on 15 and Labour on 3. They took 8 out of the 13 seats being contested this year - and narrowly missed a further gain by just two votes!
