Folkestone Town Council to massively boost cycle stands across Town

Folkestone Town Council have got the go-ahead to install 32 new cycle stands this year across the town in a major boost to cycling provision in the town. The 32 new stands will be in clusters in key spots identified with the Folkestone / Shepway Cycling Forum, including locations in Cheriton / Morehall, Harbour and Park wards.

New College Stamford - Opening of new Construction Centre by Bill Newton Dunn MEP on 16th January 2009.

New College Stamford recently opened its new Construction Centre. The Centre was officially opened on Friday 16th January 2009 by Bill Newton Dunn, East Midlands MEP and attended by Stamford LibDem Mayor, Cllr Maureen Jalili and LibDem PPC Cllr Harrish Bisnauthsing. Bill gave an extremely interesting talk on the current economic climate and the need for skills within the EU. This is part of the enlargement of New College Stamford which will also see the first eco-designed college to be built in the UK. New College Stamford works closely with Stamford Town Council who have welcomed the prospect of the increased student numbers, courses and staff which are being introduced by Principal Miles Dibsdall.

Stamford LibDem Mayor Cllr Maureen Jalili hosts Georgian Afternoon

Stamford LibDem Mayor, Cllr Maureen Jalili, hosted a delightful Georgian Afternoon for neighbouring civic heads, councillors and visitors on Saturday 31st January 2009. Civic Heads attending included Lincoln, Huntingdon, Rutland, Northampton, Spalding, March and SKDC. The day commenced with a guided tour of Stamford's magnificent stone buildings by Blue Badge guide Jill Collinge. This was followed by a Georgian Afternoon Tea, prepared and served very professionally by the students of New College Stamford who had thoroughly researched their subject and provided a wonderful array to tempt guests.

Government neglects future of farming and risks disease outbreaks

Defra's continued neglect of the farming industry is undermining hardworking farmers across the UK according to Liberal Democrat Defra Spokesperson Tim Farron MP who has uncovered figures revealing a decline in the amount of Government funding charged with improving the UK's food security.
