Job swapping MP gets stamp of approval!

There were plenty of surprised faces as Rochdale MP Paul Rowen rolled up his sleeves for a shift at the threatened Buersil Post Office. Paul completed the gruelling 4 hour morning shift and paid thousands of pounds out in pensions. He later joined contractors Carillion PLC - who are embarking on the 'Rochdale Gully Challenge' - a Lib Dem Council initiative to clean every gully in Rochdale within a year.

Lib Dem campaigners secure commitment to review parking charges at Broomfield Hospital

Local Liberal Democrat campaigners have secured a commitment that the unfair parking charges at Broomfield hospital will be reviewed after Mid Essex Hospital Trust has paid off its outstanding debts in April 2009. This was one of the complaints raised most frequently by the 1,400 respondents to Stephen Robinson's recent inquiry into the state of the NHS in Chelmsford.

Federal Trust Conference - Energy and Climate Change

Street warden campaign

New threat to street wardens stopped

When they were in control of Wolverhampton Council local Labour councillors were happy to see the Street Wardens scheme scrapped. But last May's elections left the City Council with no party in control. The five Lib Dem councillors allowed the Tories to form a minority administration provided they kept a list of promises. Top of the list was to continue the Street Wardens scheme.

This morning (Monday 4 August) was a busy one for Rochdale MP Paul Rowen as he took his place behind the counter for a shift at Buersil Post Office. Mr Rowen was working the morning shift at the popular Post Office, threatened by closure because of Government cuts.
