A progress report on a special project to create much-needed affordable homes in the Borough was positively received by Councillors attending Woking Borough Council's Executive meeting last week (Thursday 1 June).
On Thursday 1 June, the Lib Dem-controlled Woking Council committed to fighting against the Labour Government's plan to merge the Surrey and Sussex police forces. Moving the motion in the Council Chamber, Deputy Council Leader Cllr Philip Goldenberg said:

All five Cornish Liberal Democrat MPs have added their signatures to our "stop homophobic bullying" petition today. Commenting, Julia Goldsworthy, Liberal Democrat MP for Falmouth & Camborne, said: "Homophobic bullying is a painful issue that too many pupils, teachers and parents here in Cornwall have to deal with every day. I want their voices to be heard in the wider debate on how to stamp out all types of bullying in our schools."
Balderstone and Kirkholt Councillor - Dale Mulgrew has called for new and better safety measures to be installed on Broad Lane either side of the motorway bridge. Councillor Mulgrew said, "I have been inundated with requests by residents about the dangers of this stretch of road. It is about time that the Council agreed to take some action. I have been talking to residents since the start of the year and now I have been elected it's time for some positive action. I will be working with local residents and doing a survey to find out exactly what they believe could lead to eradicating the accidents which seem to be all too frequent on this road. One thing I have learnt is that it is absolutely vital to consult with local people. It is only by talking to local people that you can act responsibly and recommend to the communities solutions to problems."
