LibDem support for activated speed sign on North Road, Peter Morris asks why there aren't dedicated cycle paths

Peter Morris, Liberal Democrat County Council candidate, is supporting local residents call for a vehicle activated speed sign on North Road. In the last five years there have been twelve serious accidents. Morning and evening there is traffic chaos as the road is also the A15, accidents - with vehicles turning out of side roads and with school children crossing the road - are always likely. At times in the day when traffic levels are reduced, vehicles speeding as they travel out of town also become a problem. Peter asks why the Town Council with the County council have not worked for the provision of dedicated cycle paths within the town. These would considerably increase traffic safety. Perhaps this should have been considered instead of the Millenium Trees?

Latest news on the state of the King's Head building on the main A15 at Morton

This historic pub is situated on the main A15 at the busy crossroads in Morton. The pub burnt down in June 2007 and has been derelict ever since, local residents fear that it will remain so for years. It is situated on a dangerous cross roads used by children going to and from the local primary school. Peter recently raised the issue of the current state of disrepair with it's dangers especially to local children. The Charles Wells Brewery (owners of the King's Head) have now confirmed to Peter that they will be taking action to stabilise the building by installing a new roof and will then remove the scaffolding. This area will continue to be difficult for children to cross on their way to school, we now need to take the opportunity to make this junction safer for residents and school children.
