This week Park Ward campaigners have hand delivered 2,500 letters to voters who have contacted Robin Lawrence. Writing personally to each voter Robin told them that " Over the last eighteen months my team and I have knocked on almost 80% of the ward talking to local residents about their concerns. Many people have also been telling me how they are likely to vote; it is looking very close between the Labour candidate and me.
PRESTON: David Cameron's attempts to reach out to voters in the north of England have come unstuck as two Conservative councillors in Preston quit the party and joined the Liberal Democrats. Councillors Sharon Riley and Marie Milne joined the Liberal Democrats yesterday. The blow for the Conservatives follows a Tory local election candidate commenting that an ethnic minority candidate "wouldn't work" in a "traditional working class seat." Joan Howarth has since issued a retraction but remains on the ballot for the May 4th local elections. Councillor Sharon Riley said:
The last act in the Centre Saga is now being played. The Parish Council will purchase when its delicate negotiations with one long-standing user group are complete. The Council is trying to obtain agreement with the group about suitable terms for a lease from the Parish Council when the handover eventually takes place.

National President of the Liberal Democrats - Simon Hughes MP has taken time out to officially launch Rochdale Borough Liberal Democrat's ambitious plan to take control of Rochdale Council. Simon came to the Drake Street Campaign HQ to meet Party Workers and then officially launch their Local Election Campaign at Roeacre Court in Heywood.
North West Euro MP Sajjad Karim, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson on International Trade, has welcomed the European Commission's report that the EU credit card industry is too confined to national markets, generating huge discrepancies in customer charges from country to country.
