Take on the tax avoiders - says Vince Cable

The Liberal Democrats' Shadow Chancellor has written an article for the Guardian newspaper calling for action against tax avoiders. He wrote, " The British government isn't bankrupt. But it can ill afford to lose tax revenue through large-scale avoidance. There is a substantial structural budget deficit caused by the loss of income from a now depressed and disgraced City over and above the growing deficit born of recession. An important starting point in this crisis is to establish a tax base that is robust and fair, in which everyone is seen to be paying their share.

Recycling chaos

Better Recycling comes to Epsom - at Last!

The council is expanding its doorstep collection of waste later this month after years of pressure from Liberal Democrats councillors. The first areas to benefit from collection of cardboard and plastic bottles are confirmed as Nonsuch, Stoneleigh, Ewell and parts of Town and College wards.

Milk price drop proves need for Ombudsman says Farron

Shadow Secretary of State for DEFRA Tim Farron MP has called on the government to press ahead with the introduction of a supermarket Ombudsman in the wake of the decision taken by milk processor Wiseman Dairies, to slash the price it pays to its farmers by 2p per litre.
