Charles Kennedy, Leader of the Liberal Democrats, today underscored his Party's commitment to the environment by highlighting the 'Green Thread' that runs throughout Liberal Democrat policy. The Liberal Democrat manifesto, launched yesterday, includes green action points in every policy area.
West Chelmsford Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate Stephen Robinson says that a dramatic rise in the number of applications for postal votes has raised concerns about electoral fraud. He said, "A survey conducted by the Times found applications had increased by as much as five times in some marginal seats, compared with the 2001 election. Applications overall had almost trebled since 2001."
Charles Kennedy has presented a programme for the government of Britain based on "dignity for older people, real opportunity for our children, and a fair deal for families" at the launch of the party's manifesto for the 2005 General Election. West Chelmsford candidate Stephen Robinson welcomed the programme, entitled "The Real Alternative".

The brick toilet in Bakers Lane car park is open again. It is available for use Monday to Saturday 9:30am to 4pm. Epping Lib Dem town and district councillors campaigned for Epping Town Council to take over the toilets and re-open them 66 years ago but, at the time, were unsuccessful.
Lib Dem President Simon Hughes visited Folkestone today to back Peter Carroll's campaign to beat Michael Howard. Speculation is growing that Mr Howard could lose his seat after 22 years of being our MP.
