Charity ride father loses benefit

A father said he has lost a disability benefit after doing a 200-mile sponsored bike ride for the cancer charity which helped his twin sons. Danny Johnson-Green, 25, from Leicester, said his monthly payments of more than £300 were stopped and he was ordered him to repay more than £2,500.

New research reveals thousands of adults with autism are isolated and ignored

The National Autistic Society (NAS) has launched a new report which reveals that nearly two thirds (63%) of adults with autism in England do not have enough support to meet their needs. Based on the largest ever UK survey on the experiences of adults with autism and their families, it reveals for the first time the miserable daily reality for many thousands of adults with autism who feel isolated and ignored, are unable to access the required support, and are often completely dependent on their families.

Lib Dem Countryside Spokesman Hails NFU Centenary

Tim Farron MP, the Liberal Democrat Spokesman for the Countryside, has hailed the work of the NFU in light of their upcoming centenary. For one hundred years the National Farmers Union has provided a voice for farmers, and has only seen its relevance increase in recent years, with issues such as bluetongue and foot and mouth proving the need to give farmers a voice.

Farron slams Egg credit decision

Local MP Tim Farron has today expressed concern at the decision by the credit card operator Egg, who have cancelled the credit cards of some 160,000 customers, who were reportedly 'high risk' borrowers. However, it has emerged that some customers who have kept up regular payments have also had their cards cancelled, including Peter Thornton, a Liberal Democrat on South Lakeland District Council.
