Ming Campbell elected Liberal Democrat Leader

In a high turnout ballot of over 72% of the Liberal Democrat's 73,000 members, Party members have voted to elect Sir Ming Campbell MP as Leader. Sir Ming was applauded by both his rivals Chris Huhne MP and Party President Simon Hughes MP who pledged their loyalty and commitment to his leadership.

Proposed new Epsom Downs Grandstand

New Epsom Grandstand

The planning application for a new Grandstand at Epsom Downs racecourse is due to be considered by the Planning Committee on Thursday 9th March. The proposal is for a new modern pavilion and grandstand structure, replacing four older buildings and complementing the Queens Stand built about 15 years ago. The new building would also contain conference facilities for use on non race days.

Sir Ming Campbell elected

After an election campaign which highlighted how united the Liberal Democrats are on the main policy themes - Ming Campbell has been elected leader. The contest was been three excellent candidates. Although I backed Chris Huhne to win, as Eastleigh Local Party chair I did meet Ming Campbell at last year's Eastleigh Liberal Democrat annual dinner and I found him to be a very good speaker able to clearly put Liberal Democrat views across and he will make a good leader.
