Nine out of ten young people have experienced the first signs of hearing damage after listening to loud music on a night out, a UK charity warns. The RNID says more should wear ear plugs to protect their hearing, without spoiling their appreciation of music.

Stroke patients are struggling to get access to the vital speech and language therapy they need to help them recover, a poll says. The survey of more than 500 survivors in England found fewer than one in five received speech and language therapy in the first month after their stroke.

Special needs website wins fans

A couple who set up an internet support community for fellow parents of children with special needs hope it can become a charity due to its success. Debbi Robertson and partner Graham Brockie, of Portlethen, Aberdeenshire, set up Extra Special Parents two years ago after daughter Willow was born. Willow had a rare congenital condition and they felt "upset and isolated".

Nonsuch Park - D-Day is Tuesday 25 March 2008

Surrey County Council's governing Executive Committee is set to meet at 2.30 pm on Tuesday 25 March 2008 to finally decide whether or not to lease Nonsuch Park and its Mansion House to the Epsom & Sutton councils whose joint management committee (JMC) has run the park for them for the last 70 years. Campaigners, including Sutton's Lib Dem MP, are encouraging those concerned about the future of Nonsuch to attend this meeting to demonstrate the strength of public feeling locally on this issue when D-Day (Decision Day) finally arrives
