Action not talk required on climate change

The possibility of environmental disaster in Europe as a result of climate change has been presented at a meeting of Europe's agriculture and environment ministers. Speaking ahead of the meetings between the Agriculture and Environment Councils on the impact of climate change upon agriculture, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Norman Baker MP said "Climate change is clearly already upon us and we need to take action that will enable farmers to successfully adapt to the changes it will bring."

Orange mast in Court Rec. denied Planning Permission

Despite a recommendation by council planners to approve the controversial Orange Telecoms mast in Court Rec., Lib Dem Cllr Paul Green skilfully persuaded the Planning Committee to reject it. Only Cllr Alan Carlson (Labour) supported it, claiming that within 6 months of installation everyone would forget their objections and accept it.

Colin Ross visits Trinity Training Services

Colin Ross, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson from Wolverhampton South West yesterday attended a breakfast meeting with Trinity Training Services. Colin heard a presentation and then participated in a discussion about issues that concerned Trinity, such as the Education Maintenance Allowance. After the breakfast Colin had an opportunity to meet some of the trainees.

The sale of Wansfell College has fallen through at the last stage on several occasions, reports former Theydon Bois county councillor Janet Whitehouse. This time, however, it is certain. Contracts were exchanged on 19 August and completion is due 28 days later.

Toni calls for more police

Local campaigner Toni Powell is campaigning for more police on patrol to crack down on rising anti-social behaviour in New Romney. The Lib Dems have also slammed Conservative run Shepway District Council for ignoring calls to buy a new specialist machine to remove graffiti in our area.
