In July Robin Lawrence and the Lib Dem Focus Team were invited to inspect the poor state of the road in Newbridge Gardens by local residents. They were appalled to find potholes and loose tarmac. No significant maintenance or repairs to Newbridge Gardens had been made for at least twenty years.
Local MP Tim Farron and Windermere's Liberal Democrat councillors have welcomed the news that Network Rail is to remove the six whistle boards on the railway line into Windermere station. At the moment, trains have to sound their horns six times within a short period of time as they pass pedestrian crossings near the station. Network Rail announced back in July that they would look at removing some of the whistle boards, but said then that three would have to stay - a decision which has been overturned today.

In July a Focus Extra was delivered in Newbridge about the poor state of the road surface. Robin Lawrence told Council officials about the lack of maintenance and received promises that pot holes will be filled in. Some have now been filled in with what looks like spare tarmac from other jobs but leaving the state of the road's surface far from satisfactory.
Following concerns expressed by residents about delays in necessary water hydrant repairs by Scottish Water in Step Row in his Dundee Tay Bridges Ward, Liberal Democrat Councillor Fraser Macpherson has contacted Scottish Water's Business & Community Liaison Manager to ask for a full explanation for the delay in the problem being fully sorted and an assurance it will be given full priority.
Dundee Liberal Democrat City Councillor for Tay Bridges Ward, Cllr Fraser Macpherson, whose area includes most of the City Centre and much of Dundee's West End, today (Saturday 12th August) praised the pro activity of Tayside Police in cracking down on anti-social behaviour in parts of the City Centre.
