The sheer quantity of raw sewage being dumped into Britain’s rivers and coastal areas is a scandal and a disgrace.
Commenting on the survey of smoking, drinking and drug use among young people in England in 2004, published by the Department of Health today, Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Secretary, Steve Webb MP said:
A new Survey by Lib Dems in the Lawns area shows an overwhelming 19 out of 20 people want cardboard and plastic recycling. Robin Stevens, Lib Dem Candidate for the Lawns by-election said, "I'm glad that so many of my neighbours agree with me over recycling priorities, which are important for the health of our community. I was saddened that the Tory ruling group on the Council went for the easy option and slashed these recycling targets."
Wolverhampton City Council are advertising The Civic Trust's Awards for best new buildings. Colin Ross, Parliamentary Spokesperson for Wolverhampton South West, has slammed this gimmick saying "The Council is acting hypocritically. Whilst there are some quality new buildings in Wolverhampton, the Council should be more concerned with our less glamorous buildings are which there are far too many!"
The Liberal Democrats have hit out at Council Tax following news that the revaluation planned for English homes in 2007 is to be put on hold until after the next general election. The Liberal Democrats have said that cancelling revaluation doesn't solve problems with Council Tax.
Commenting on the talks between Chinese and EU negotiators regarding textile imports, Liberal Democrat Shadow Trade and Industry Secretary, Norman Lamb MP said:
PLANNING permission for four flats on a small plot in Upper Park, Loughton, was refused by district councillors, despite a warning from the applicant's agent that it would leave the council facing the cost of an appeal.
